Covid Update 29.1.21

29th January 2021

Dear parents and carers

COVID Update 29.1.21

I hope you are well. Again, first note is a thank you to all of you for your continued support for both us and your children. They have produced some amazing learning this week and engagement has reached an all-time high. Remember, we are all here to support you so if you are having any problems at all then please do contact us and we will help in any way we can.

Critical Worker and Vulnerable children bubbles

Staff on duty next week will be: Mrs Winter/Miss Plenty/Mrs Larcombe (Germoe) and Miss Brooks/Mrs Harvey/Mr Watson (Boskenwyn). Please make sure you arrive on time for drop off and collection. Please also make sure your child only brings the necessary items into school, no cuddly toys or games. A high standard of behaviour is expected at all times, parents will be contacted and places possibly withdrawn if children continue to break our classroom rules. This is an emergency childcare facility only, if you are at home then your child should be at home too unless you are a critical worker working from home or a vulnerable family.

Star of the week/Assembly

Today we did a trial run celebration assembly for the Germoe community. We did a short story with a moral, a sing along and star of the week. It was lovely with over 30 families engaging. Due to the success we will continue this weekly for both schools every Friday at 11.30am. The Zoom link will be sent to you via both parent and child Seesaw. For the Germoe parents who couldn’t make it, the link to the recorded version is being sent to you today or Monday via Seesaw. Please ask your class teacher if you can’t find it or need help joining future assemblies.

Zoom charter

In order to keep all children, staff and yourselves safeguarded, we sent you a personal email with our Zoom charter. It sets out the rules for the live Zoom sessions and reminds you that you can be SEEN and HEARD at all times. We have had lots of Zoom sessions this week; one to one, small group, whole class, whole school and even whole federation and I’m pleased to say that most have taken note of the expectations in the charter. For the odd few who haven’t… please read the charter again and remember we can SEE and HEAR you at all times if you are on video and unmuted. We will class this week as lessons learned but if we SEE or HEAR anything inappropriate in the following meetings then we will have to remove you from the meeting. On a positive slant, it was great to see so many smiling faces of children and parents and we have really enjoyed that personal contact with you all.  We hope to see you all in next week’s assembly and joining in with PE with Mr C on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10.30am. The group zoom sessions are recorded and posted on Seesaw for parents/children who can’t make the live sessions so if you would not like your child to appear on the shared recordings then please turn off your video when in the live session. They will not be shared on social media nor the school websites.

Cornwall Virtual School Games

In order to keep a little of our competitive streak flowing, Mr Conway has entered both our schools into the “Cornwall Virtual School Games.” Next week, your child will be sent an activity card via Seesaw. They have to complete the activity and upload their results to Seesaw. They can do the activity every day of the week and record their result each day so by the end of the week they can see how much they have progressed so there’s their personal challenge. Then on Friday, they upload their final result on Seesaw and their class teacher enters the results of the whole class into the Cornwall School games competition so we compete as whole year groups against other Cornish Schools. We will have the results by the following week. All year groups can participate and the activities differ according to age. Good luck everyone!

E-Library

Some parents have asked about a school library system. After risk assessing the situation, whilst in lockdown we think it is unsafe to do so. Instead, Mrs Reeves has collated a list of free e-books and online materials from the other staff and put together virtual library. The link to this will be sent to you via Seesaw. For those parents who are struggling to find actual reading materials, please do get in touch with your class teacher and they will arrange a package for you to collect at a designated time. Please do make sure you arrive on time if you use this service as the staff member will be waiting at the gate for you.

Take you once again, have a lovely weekend
