Newsletter 23.10.2020

23rd October 2020

Dear parents/carers
COVID Update 23.10.20/Newsletter

Just a couple of reminders for next half term….
Hot lunches will recommence on Monday 2nd November, you should have received a menu via your personal email address and details of how to pay via bank transfer. If you haven’t received it then let us know below and we can send one to you. Lunches are £2.30 a day or you can pay on the Monday for the whole week and the fifth meal will be free. Lunches are free for reception, year one and year two under the universal free school meals system, however, if your child is in any of these year groups and you feel you may be eligible for free school meals then please contact us. It could mean you have an entitlement over holiday periods if the government decide to do this again in the future. It is unfortunate that the free meals scheme isn’t running over half term but please make use of food banks or any other local companies who are offering support such as Castle Beach Café in Falmouth.

The new government guidance came out yesterday and I’m pleased to say that all of our plans continue to adhere to all the new guidance. It is recommended that we continue to keep our classrooms well ventilated so please could you make sure your children are wrapped up well, an extra layer would be a great help.

We continue our staggered start/finish times and a major precautionary measure; they have changed for next half and you should have received a personal email with those times for your child. As ever, you can drop off at the earliest time and pick up at the latest if you have siblings. This does not apply to Germoe nursery though where start time is 0915 and finish time either 1215 or 1515 depending on morning or afternoon sessions.

Reminder from classteachers:
Please could you ensure your child has a water bottle with them at all times.
Could you please bring back any reading books either scheme books or reading for pleasure books on Monday 2nd November please? We can then quarantine them then re-route them within the first week. Please have a root around the house for old ones too as we seem to have a lot missing…particularly those with a Cornwall Council Library Service label inside them as we are liable for them and are due to return/exchange some.

0Blackbird Pie Magazine, activities for half term – BlackbirdPie online magazine is filled with great things to do, videos, links and interactive stuff. There are lovely places to visit, wonderful walks, book reviews, and museums and galleries to visit (with safety measures in place). If we go into lockdown we will include activities to do at home and educational support links. The format has chapter headings and then you can flow down into each section for more information. You can view it on a computer, tablet or mobile phone, just click on the link and subscribe for free. BlackbirdPie 2020 Autumn https://blackbirdreads.turtl.co/story/blackbirdpie-autumn-2020/

One last reminder… all of the general information we post on Facebook is also posted on the school websites on www.germoe.cornwall.sch.ukand www.boskenwyn.cornwall.sch.ukPlease could you remind anyone who asks you, that the information is duplicated there and signpost them to it, just in case they are not Facebook users and don’t know our website addresses. Any personal information is sent via personal emails to ensure delivery. Not only is this COVID friendly, it is also helping us on our way to being paper-free schools.

Thank you for all your support over this difficult half term, I know we are all looking forward to a much needed rest and I’m sure you and your children are too.

Have fun, take care and stay safe!
