Weekly communication

20th November 2020

Dear parents/carers
COVID UPDATE 20.11.20
Thank you for you continued support during lockdown. We are pleased with how the drop off and pick ups are going now that we have settled into the new routine. We understand that the bubble situation can be difficult so this is just a gentle reminder to let us know of your childcare/support bubble and that these bubbles are not interchangeable. We are lucky to have the flexibility of one bubble rather than none during the last lockdown.
You should have received an email this week with our Blended Learning Questionnaire. Please could you complete and submit so that we can analyse and help to find solutions to any problems or difficulties. If you haven’t received it then please let me know.
Could I also remind you to send your child in with a coat and water bottle on a daily basis.

And now for the C word…… CHRISTMAS!!! We all know that it will be quite different this year but we are trying to make it as normal as possible for our children without jeopardising their safety so we will continue with many of the activities we would normally do but within bubbles rather than whole school. I know you all look forward to our Christmas productions…. you can still look forward to this years! We will be putting together a Christmas Top of the Pops video and will upload it to our website and social media and send you a link via email. You can sing along at home to all the classics! Christmas Jumper Day will be on Friday 11th December. Children can wear a Christmas jumper to school that day and you can make an optional donation to the Save the Children Fund JustGiving page. I’ll send a link when we have more details.
Christmas Dinner will be on Wednesday 16th December. This can be ordered viasecretary@boskenwyn.cornwall.sch.uk Traditional Christmas dinner with a vegetarian option for £2.30 to be paid via SchoolMoney once ordered. Those eligible for Universal free school meals and Pupil Premium are exempt from payment.
Gweek Christmas Light Switch on will be on Saturday 5th December. Lights will be switched on at 6.30pm and you are welcome to walk around the village to see the lights any time after that. There won’t be any celebrations as they are avoiding gatherings. We don’t have a date for Germoe yet but will let you know when we know.
An elf told me that SANTA has successfully set up his Zoom account and is looking forward to virtual meetings with our children, all of which have been extremely good this year! Sssshhhh, don’t tell them, it’s a surprise!
We all know that children love to send each other Christmas Cards so we will have a post box in each class. Children can post their cards into the post box every Monday from 30th November. The cards will be quarantined until Friday morning then given out as the children are leaving on Friday after lunch. Please don’t send them on any other day!
I think that’s all for now, as always, if you have any queries then please drop me a line at head@germoe.cornwall.sch.uk Have a lovely weekend
Paula Blackburn
